My intention was to bike ten miles so I can look “bikini ready” when we leave for the coast of California next week. God’s intention potentiated that goal in a way that will leave my biking forever changed....
I began with a little cheating by driving the bike in the pickup to the bottom of our hill. Trying to get back up it is just too much to face after a fast, hard ride. But once my feet hit the pedals, I entered the essence of spring time in East Lewis County in this fertile valley nestled in fir covered mountains. Cruising past fat robins flying low over verdant green pastures, I saw a deer emerge at the edge of the woods, a cherry tree in full bloom over her innocent head. Our house was in view, on the hilltop. I got into my stride, feeling the first burn of hard work as I hit the first incline.
Then the tulip fields came into view. From Adytum, The Sanctuary, these great blocks of color emerge between Big Leaf Maple branches that soar over three stories high. What a joy! Suddenly they struck me as looking like a flag – blocks of fuchsia, apricot, white, yellow, orange- and the green stems where harvest had begun. Row upon row of outrageous, spectacular color…
The Flag of the Universe, I thought! Nations have flags…this is God’s Universal version. Full blown, living color. I had hardly completed that thought when I heard the still, small Voice speak: You are like that to me. Each of you who bears My Name in their hearts is pure beauty, full of vibrant color and sweetly fragrant. I rejoice over you, over each of you. You all- individually and collectively – delight My heart. You are My flag of the Universe, a standard of beauty and love for all the worlds, for Angels, and for Me to behold and revel in your beauty!
A song rose up in my spirit playing through my head as I biked past swaths of bold color against the rich Cinnabar Loam in the bulb fields.
“He reigns throughout the Universe. His glory covers all the earth….” On and on through my being as I pedaled along....
Originally, when I started out, I was contemplating fat burn and visualizing long, lean muscles with definition. It is a standing joke in our house, with more than a grain of truth, that the Santa Cruz is my $2000 cellulite treatment disguised as pure pleasure.... But now, I wasn't thinking about fat burn and the lean muscles I was seeking to create, but was contemplating the Creator that made such beauty in nature and in us. Could I, given the chance to create the worlds as we know them, make such magnificence as a flower, as a person? What a Mind…. Irresistibly sexy and appealing. Yes, God.... who wouldn't want alignment with a guy like that????
Later, on the way home, I drove through a shower of cherry blossoms. They caressed my face and rained down on me in a gentle, warm breeze showering me with fragrant beauty and love. A gift.... Life is rich. Life is good. Yes, there is war, devastation from hurricanes and floods. Yes, we have inflation and worries over America. Yes winter was hard this year. But everything rights itself in the rich seduction of a warm spring morning communing with Divine Mind.
I set out to work on my body but God worked awe that morphed into worship into for me. That song persisted throughout my ride back to the truck waiting at the bottom of the hill. Yes, He surely reigns throughout the Universe. And in me. In us, His flag of the Universe…All beauty and grace and the sweet fragrance of LOVE.....
Wow, Kat..... It sounds like the most wonderul bike ride ever! It is truly amazing how God works in our lives.
