Everything is gestation, then the birthing....Rilke

March 1, 2008

It has been 13 years since Donn and I sat in the living room of my house late one night sharing our personal dreams after everyone else had gone home. It was very early on in our relationship; a great way to start one... Imagine how astounded we were to discover that we envisioned the same thing, just said in different ways and with different slants.

He wanted a soirée lifestyle, attracting great thinkers to brainstorm and discuss on a number of topics. These think tank sessions would yield up great discoveries; maybe even free energy.

I wanted to live in a five-star spa and enjoy the intellectual stimulation of meeting interesting people, involving ourselves in deep discussion. We could pursue health and enjoy luxury and pampering too.

We both wanted a spiritual retreat; a place where the spirit had room to expand, where life was lived more slowly and meaningfully, where intimacy with God was a reality all the time. Because the beauty of nature and spirituality are so often interconnected, it seemed natural that the location for our soirée spa would entail our shared love of the Pacific Northwest forests far from the crush of the city.

Rilke's poetic line has sustained us for these many years~everything is gestation, then the birthing...We are full- of many things now- anticipation, excitement, joy and peace that we are fulfilling our shared destiny. We are anxious to see the dream of our early years about to come to birth.

The Sanctuary Bed & Breakfast at Mossyrock, Washington is even now straining to emerge from the world of dream onto the physical plane. Everything is conspiring magically to bring this great lady into the world. All the help we need comes as soon as we ask now and all we need is provided. It has been a journey marked by starts and stops, miraculous provision then delay. These lines will document the beginnings and look forward to the day when we will finally see the birth fully evolved. We can all share the journey now, because her birth is meant to bless everyone who has the privilege of experiencing The Sanctuary.
